Queens London Theatre IN THE COMMUNITY

For the past five years Queens London Theatre has forged links into the communities in London and is proud to announce some new projects for 2017.

On Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th May AP Theatre would like to invite schools to participate in an open audition, for casting into the full-length stage production of The Wizard of Oz.

We are looking to cast approximately thirty-five to forty children, ranging in age from seven to seventeen years, for a variety of roles – some large and some small.

The idea is to cast three in each role, so that the chosen actors can take it in turns to perform on stage, for the duration of the production.

It is scheduled for the autumn timetable and will premiere sometime in October. If successful, it may then go on tour around other venues in London and the South East.

If you are a teacher and are interested in your school taking part, then please contact Verity and let her know roughly how many in your party there will be. Places will book up quick as people are already registering their interest.

The successful children will have the chance to perform alongside professional actors. This is a great opportunity for budding performers and for schools to be involved with, what is bound to be a hit production!

Our popular over 55’s drama workshop returns this spring, in May.

We have a friendly and welcoming group of regulars who get together every year to stage their own amateur production on our premises. But they are always looking for a new member – you!

It doesn’t matter if you have not performed before or if it was a long time ago. We mix experience with enthusiasm and to date our over 55’s have always pulled it off.

It is not only actors who we require, but also backstage help; lighting technicians and stage and costume assistants.

If you think that sounds like you, or you’d like to try it but you’re not sure, contact Vicky for more information. We can arrange for someone to meet you, if you are nervous about attending events on your own for the first time.

All through the month of August AP Theatre London invites you to get your hands dirty and to come and create something.

Working with local visual artists, Art Space offers a drop-in session for children aged between 7 – 14 and a chance to create a work of art of their very own.

Additionally, there is the chance to work more closely as part of a group, learning techniques such as screen printing, glass painting and salt dough modelling.

Sessions are small and places will book up, so we advise early booking to avoid disappointment. If you are interested, please contact Vicky.

Our youth theatre is active all year round and is always looking for new members. If you are aged 10-25 and interested in any aspect of theatre, dance or music, then there may be an opportunity for you.

Every year we devise and write our own production and put it on, so if you are interested in a starring role – or one in stage production – please contact Vicky for more info.
